The Army, Navy and Air Force participated in the exercises with the objective of “monitoring the country's borders, identifying targets and taking images,” said Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, in charge of the maneuvers.
The Armed Forces used “about 200 types of drones” in the maneuvers that were carried out throughout the country, from the waters of the Persian Gulf to the northern regions.
The military exercises coincide with the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday.
Iran has a powerful drone manufacturing industry. In August, it presented a new drone with a range of 2.000 kilometers, flight capacity of 24 hours and the possibility of transporting “all types of ammunition and bombs.”
Western countries have alleged that Iran has sold Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones to Russia for use in the Ukraine war, something Tehran denies.
The military maneuvers are held amid new tensions between Western countries and Iran over the Iranian nuclear program.
In mid-September, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Tehran had banned several of the agency's inspectors, which would affect controls over the Iranian nuclear program.
