Yemen's Houthi rebel leader Abdelmalek al-Houthi said on Tuesday that the Iranian-backed terrorist movement is ready to attack Israel again if the war in the Gaza Strip resumes, at a time when fears are growing about the collapse of the ceasefire agreement.
“We remain in our position, with our fingers on the trigger, ready for immediate escalation,” al-Houthi said in a televised speech, in which he claimed that the group is even prepared “for a military intervention in any round of escalation against Gaza at any time.”
Following the outbreak of the war in Gaza in October 2023, the Houthis launched a campaign of direct attacks against Israel and also actions against commercial shipping in the Red Sea, causing serious disruptions to this strategic waterway with the aim of damaging Israel economically.
However, the terrorists ceased all their attacks after the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect on January 18, although they have already warned that they would resume their military operations if the truce agreement were broken.
In this regard, Al Huti warned Israel that it is "mistaken" if it believes that it will be able to continue the war in the Gaza Strip under the total protection of the United States, which Last year it launched a massive bombing campaign against positions in Yemen in response to its attacks on Israel and the Red Sea.
Al Huti promised full support “in all fields” to Hamas.We are ready for jihad with our souls, our money and everything we can. We will never hesitate (…) and we strive to achieve what is beyond our capabilities,” he said.
