This year, the United Nations (UN) COP29 climate conference will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

This is an annual international event that brings together the world's most important climate change negotiating bodies and concludes with binding decisions for all participating parties, including governments of different countries, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and the media.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced that he will travel as part of the national delegation to Baku in the second week of November, following a scheduled trip to the United States. In a meeting with other participants, he stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the face of the growing threat of what he called the axis of evil, referring to Iran and its allies.

The president also said that he believes it is vital to address the climate crisis despite the security situation in the country, and that the main challenges in this context are the decentralization of the electrical system, for protection against possible attacks, food security and the preservation of natural resources.
