El Knesset Finance Committee announced a new measure that seeks to encourage immigration and facilitate the acquisition of housing in Israel.
For this, it was decided to make significant changes in the tax benefits intended for the new immigrants.
From now on, olim will be exempt from paying purchase taxes on the first NIS 1.98 million of the value of the property purchased in 2024.
From this value, reduced rates will apply up to the limit of NIS 6 million. Immigrants will not receive benefits on the purchase of properties that exceed that value.
In a context marked by geopolitical tensions and an increase in anti-Semitism worldwide, Israel seeks to facilitate immigration: in the words of the finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, “the goal is to do everything possible to facilitate the return of Jewish immigrants and their families home.”
In this sense, the general director of Aliya and Integration, Avichai Kahane, expressed that it is “a great opportunity. “We see many families who want to emigrate to Israel in a context of increasing anti-Semitism.”
