The French government is asking its citizens not to travel to Iran until the Tehran regime releases the three French nationals it considers to be illegally detained and who it considers to be "hostages".

"The situation of our compatriots held hostage in Iran is totally unacceptable," stressed French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Tuesday in a speech at the conference of ambassadors, which brings together the heads of diplomatic missions around the world in Paris every year.

Barrot denounced that these “hostages” are being held “in undignified conditions” that he likened to “torture,” and noted that “the situation has worsened” since the start of the mandate of the current Iranian president, Masud Pezeskhian, last July.

He therefore justified the call for the French not to go to Iran until they are freed, and warned that bilateral relations and "the future of the sanctions" to which the Iranian regime is subjected will depend on this issue.

There are three French nationals who are considered by their government to be “state hostages” in Iran. On the one hand, there is the couple formed by Cécile Kohler and Jacques Paris, arrested in the spring of 2022 on charges of espionage while on a tourist trip.

On the other hand, there is a man whose identity the French authorities have not wanted to reveal, and of whom only his name, Olivier, is known.

Last June, Louis Arnaud, a thirty-something who was on a world tour when he was arrested in Iran in September 2022, was released on charges of having participated in protests over the murder by the religious police of Masha Amini, a young Iranian woman arrested for not wearing the veil in accordance with the regime's rules. 1. What would France have done if, instead of torturing them, they had killed them? And what would it have done if Iran was its neighbouring country? And what would France have done if, in addition, they had killed the babies of this couple? And if, to do that, they had gone to Lyon or Marseille, not to mention Paris… Well, THAT, exactly THAT, is what ISRAEL has done!!!
