For the first time, the Archive of the Keren Kayemet LeIsrael published a collection of old photos that had not previously been available to the public.
To celebrate the beginning of the summer holidays in Israel, KKL published a series of photos taken throughout the organization's history. In general, they are images registered in the nature reserves of the Jewish National Fund.
The director of the organization's Archive, Efrat Sinai, expressed the reasons behind the recent publication in an official statement. “In honor of sunny summer vacations, the KKL-JNF archives puts on their sunglasses and joyfully reveals a series of photos from past summer vacations, showing people enjoying a game of volleyball and splashing in the pool. The photos remind us of the joy of summer and childhood memories. KKL-JNF wishes all citizens of Israel a safe and fun summer vacation.”
For example, one of the photos shows some boys playing with a slide in Dunant Park in Jerusalem. The photograph is by David Hirschfeld, from 1966. In another photograph, captured by Alex Strajmayster in 1967, another group of children can be seen playing on a playground in Jerusalem.
And going further back, a photo from 1928 was also published in which you can see a group of young people playing volleyball.
