Fake emergency messages in Israel spark concern over possible Iranian cyber attack

After the attack carried out by means of the beeper explosion A cybersecurity incident occurred in Israel by Hezbollah members, in which at least 500 people were injured and at least 12 killed, for which many hold Israel responsible.

Although Israel has not commented on the matter, several foreign media outlets have reported that the Mossad and Israeli intelligence were behind the attack.

On Wednesday night, hundreds of Israeli citizens received fake text messages with an emergency alert indicating that they should leave their locations and head to protected areas. 

Local media outlets quickly picked up on the incident, saying it was being investigated as a possible Iranian-directed cyberattack. The Home Front Command (IDF) denied having sent these messages.

The messages appeared to come from the Command's official alert system, but contained spelling errors and a link.
