Israel's flag carrier El Al announced it will operate rescue flights from the Netherlands on Friday evening and on Shabbat following last night's attacks on supporters of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team in Amsterdam.
The airline generally does not operate on Saturdays in accordance with Jewish religious law.
The flights will be free for all passengers who have booked a return flight from Amsterdam to Israel with El Al and other airlines, the company said.
The first flight will depart Amsterdam at 14:00 p.m. local time and arrive in Israel on Friday evening. Two other scheduled flights are also scheduled to depart from Amsterdam to Tel Aviv later today. Each of these flights will carry around 350 people.
Israel's National Security Council has called on people in the Dutch capital to stay in their hotel rooms and avoid displaying national or Jewish symbols.
