The Foreign Ministry of Egypt has warned of the “catastrophic consequences” that the recent announcement by the Israeli Defense Minister could have, Israel Katz, on the displacement of Gazans in the framework of the ceasefire between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Egypt has also called for the implementation of the three-phase ceasefire in Gaza and said it will work with all international actors to rebuild Gaza without the forced displacement of Palestinians, “especially given their strong attachment to their historic homeland and their refusal to abandon it.”

“Egypt also warns of the need to address the root causes of the conflict, which lie in the existence of a people who have been under occupation for decades and who have suffered all forms of displacement, oppression and discrimination,” he said.

“We will take over the Gaza Strip and do a good job with it. It will be ours.”, said the president, without giving details on how the relocation of the More than two million Palestinians.

The United Nations has already warned the US president that international law prohibits any type of forced displacement, amid a wave of criticism also supported by European powers and human rights organisations.

“I have instructed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prepare a plan to allow the voluntary departure of Gaza residents”, Katz said. The scheme would include exit options for land, sea and air, for those who wish to leave the enclave and move to any country that accepts them.
