Keren Kayemet LeIsrael, the Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF), has among other things a large photographic archive of the history of the State of Israel.

In preparation for Passover, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael published a special series of rare historical photographs showing how the holiday was celebrated in the early decades of the state, between 1940 and 1980.

Regarding this project, Efrat Sinai, Archives Manager at KKL-JNF, said that “with Passover approaching, we are pleased to share with the public some exciting scenes from Israel's history over the decades, preserved in the photographic archive. of KKL-JNF. Photos show the making of matzah, the search for chametz, the Passover Seder, and holiday processions. The images reveal to us the beautiful Israel of the past along with the tradition that has remained unchanged to this day.”

In addition to the traditional rituals of the holiday and festive processions, the photographs reflect the life and culture of the time.
