In an event that marks a milestone in diplomatic history, Argentina and Israel will commemorate 16 years of bilateral relations on Monday, December 75. This moment comes in an unprecedented context, where ties between both nations are at their highest point, driven by the foreign policy of President Javier Milei, who has prioritized Argentina's connection with Israel as one of the fundamental pillars of his government in terms of foreign policy.
The celebration will feature the participation of key figures from the Israeli political and social world, as well as Argentine figures living in Israel. Speakers include the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Sa'ar; the Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana; and the Argentine ambassador to Israel, Axel Wahnish. The presence of these high-ranking Israeli authorities underlines the recognition and gratitude towards the position adopted by the Milei government, which has placed Israel in an unprecedented position of preeminence in Argentine foreign policy. In addition, it is essential to highlight that during the event a special message from President Milei, written on the occasion of the celebrations, will be read.
Since taking office, Ambassador Axel Wahnish has maintained a constant dialogue with the leaders of the Israeli government, strengthening a relationship that previously did not reach this magnitude. As a sign of the strength of this bond, the Israeli Foreign Ministry offered, for the first time, the use of its official hall for the celebration of this commemoration.
“This is not just a 'diplomatic event'. It is confirmation that Argentina and Israel are strategic partners and that there is a great future ahead for this friendship,” said Ambassador Wahnish.
A message of solidarity and commitment

The event will also include a moment of tribute to the victims and survivors of the terrorist attack of October 7, 2023. We must remember with pain that there are still 7 Argentines in the hands of the terrorist organization Hamas. In his speech, Ambassador Wahnish will reaffirm Argentina's commitment as an ally of Israel, supporting the right of the Israeli State to defend itself and reiterating the call for the immediate release of the kidnapped.
Distinctions and commemorative art
During the ceremony, awards will be given to distinguished Argentine citizens residing in Israel. In addition, the “Bridges of Freedom” art collection will be presented, a series of paintings created by Argentine artist Oscar “Cacho” Soler, inspired by the cultural ties between Buenos Aires and Jerusalem.

The event can be followed live from 19:30 p.m. in Israel (14:30 p.m. in Argentina) through the official website of Facebook: facebook.com/israelspanish.
