Ahmed al-Sharaa, the leader of the insurgent coalition that overthrew ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and known by the nom de guerre Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, said Tuesday that they would pursue “war criminals” and would soon release a list of their names.

“We will not hesitate to hold accountable the criminals, murderers, security and army officers involved in the torture of the Syrian people. We will pursue war criminals and demand that they be punished in the countries to which they fled,” he said in a statement on the official account of the Military Operations Command of the insurgent coalition.

"We will announce a first list containing the names of those most involved in the torture of the Syrian people," said the leader of the Levant Liberation Organization (Hayat Tahrir al Sham or HTS in Arabic), the successor to the former Syrian branch of Al Qaeda.

In the note, the leader, who has already entrusted Mohamed al Bashir - former head of the Salvation Government, the political and civil branch of the Levant Liberation Organization - with the transition phase of the new government in Syria, indicated that they will offer "rewards to those who provide information about senior military and security officials involved in war crimes."

"We affirmed our commitment to tolerate those whose hands are not stained with the blood of the Syrian people, and we granted amnesty to those who were in compulsory service," he said, referring to the announcement made yesterday by Al Jolani.

“The blood of innocent martyrs and the rights of prisoners are a trust that we will not allow to be wasted or forgotten,” he concluded.

Al Jolani led the offensive that in twelve days ended the Al Assad family's more than five decades of power in Syria.

Al Assad and his family fled Damascus and sought asylum in Moscow, where they are currently located.EFE

  1. I hope they succeed in prosecuting all those who contributed to the genocide of the Syrian people, starting with their leader Al Assad, who was helped by the Iranian ayatollahs, and the leaders of Hezbollah who were already sent to hell for free by Israel. Some are missing from Hamas, the Houthis and other groups of murderers trained by the Iranian government.
