The Israel Democracy Institute released the results of the April 2024 Israeli Voice Index conducted by IDI's Viterbi Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research.

The survey was carried out between May 1 and 6. In that context, 750 people were asked their opinion on how Independence Day should be commemorated this year.

This was a nationally representative sample of the adult population in Israel aged 18 years and older, with a maximum margin of error of ±3,58%. 600 men and women were interviewed in Hebrew and 150 in Arabic.

Although a large number of gatherings, events and parties usually take place, according to the survey, 56% of Israelis think that this year Yom Haatzmaut should be celebrated in a more moderate way. Additionally, 31% thought the celebrations should not take place at all.

Among Jewish Israelis, nearly 60% across the political spectrum said Independence Day celebrations organized by local authorities should be moderate this year.

Majorities of left-wing (82%) and centrist Israelis (60%) said Knesset members should not attend ceremonies at military cemeteries, while a slight majority of right-wing respondents (59,5% ) gave the opposite opinion.
