ADL and the Latin American Jewish Congress launch the ALAS initiative to combat antisemitism in Latin America.

The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and the Latin American Jewish Congress (LAJC), along with legislators from Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile, launched ALAS – the Latin American Alliance Against Antisemitism. ALAS is a regional initiative that promotes legislative measures and public policies to combat antisemitism throughout Latin America.

ALAS serves as a platform for cooperation among legislators in the region, with the goal of strengthening legal frameworks, promoting education about antisemitism, and developing effective prevention strategies. This initiative seeks to create a united front to reinforce the shared values of democracy and human dignity.

Legislators from the five participating countries attended the ALAS launch event, working together to develop policies and legal frameworks to strengthen the fight against hate and discrimination.

“Antisemitism represents a grave threat to democracy and must be met with a strong and coordinated response across all sectors of society. For too long, Latin America has lacked comprehensive strategies to address antisemitism. ALAS is a historic step toward ensuring that governments and authorities take concrete steps—not just in words, but through laws, education, and accountability—to prevent hate from taking root and spreading,” said Ambassador Marina Rosenberg, ADL Senior Vice President for International Affairs.

“Members of national parliaments play a fundamental role in building a pluralistic society, where there is no room for antisemitism or hatred,” said Claudio Epelman, Executive Director of the Latin American Jewish Congress.

  1. URBIS ET ORBIS DECLARATION.

"For every ten students involved who are to be falsely 'freed' or without a 'proper' trial, one letter should be removed from the name of Columbia University. Likewise, for every university in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Colombia, etc. For terrorism, no university withdrawal represents an effective change."

The above "declaration" should be printed, in smaller print, on the diploma of every student involved, and even in the statutes of every university involved in the anti-Jewish, anti-Zionist, and anti-American riots that occurred from 2020 to 2024. If retroactive, it would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Secretary of Education or Minister of Education in each territory and country, regarding previous, similar riots since 1968.

To this end, the universities involved should collect the issued degrees and carry out the corresponding oversight measures suggested above. They would then seal the respective diplomas, including the Declaration mentioned here.

    Publish and comply.
