A magnitude 5 earthquake struck the Natanz region in central Iran on Friday, home to one of Iran's main nuclear facilities. The Ayatollah regime has not reported any casualties or damage so far.

The quake struck the Badrud district of Natanz municipality at 9.55:6.25 a.m. local time (XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. GMT), the Tehran University Seismology Center reported, according to Iranian media.

Authorities have sent three Red Crescent assessment teams to the area, and no casualties or damage have been reported so far, other than some broken windows in nearby homes, according to Reza Mousavi, head of crisis management in Isfahan.

It has not been reported how far away the quake occurred from the Natanz nuclear plant, the country's main uranium enrichment facility, which uses thousands of centrifuges of varying models and speeds to purify uranium.

Iran is highly seismic, with numerous earthquakes recorded. The most serious earthquakes to date in Iran occurred in December 2003 and June 1990, when 31.000 and 37.000 people died, respectively.

In November 2017, a magnitude 7,3 earthquake killed 620 people and injured more than 12.000 in the northwestern province of Kermanshah. EFE and Aurora
